EXMO Review
Quick take
EXMO Earn offers flexible and fixed plans across major cryptocurrencies and stablecoins. Flexible plans pay daily, compound automatically, and allow partial or full withdrawals. Fixed plans offer higher stated rates for 30 to 180 days but pay no reward after an early cancellation. EXMO is more transparent than many exchange programs about using Gearbox and other DeFi lending protocols, though that adds smart-contract and borrower risk.
How earning works
Flexible Earn places supported assets into an open-ended contract. Rewards are calculated daily and added to the contract balance. You can withdraw part or all of the balance, but a full withdrawal can cause the current day’s reward to be skipped.
Fixed Earn locks the balance for 30 to 180 days and pays at maturity. You can cancel the full contract early, but partial withdrawals are unavailable and no reward is paid. Auto-renewal can roll the principal and reward into a new term. EXMO says yield can come from Gearbox lending pools and other protocols such as Aave, Compound, and MakerDAO, plus staking providers. You can compare crypto lending rates and compare stablecoin interest rates.
Rates, fees, and requirements
Rates depend on the asset, term, and market. Better Fixed rates may require holding 50,000 EXM for Standard status or 120,000 EXM for Advanced status. Promotions can also affect the maximum. Existing fixed contracts keep their agreed rate through maturity when EXMO changes the schedule, while flexible rates update.
EEA customers do not receive the higher EXM-based tiers and may have other product restrictions. Check the base rate available with no EXM, exact term, balance cap, and auto-renew setting before committing.
Custody and key risks
EXMO controls the account while external protocols may receive the assets. That combines exchange custody with smart-contract, borrower, protocol-liquidity, and stablecoin risks. Fixed terms also create price and access risk. Holding EXM for a higher rate adds exposure to the exchange token, and an early fixed exit erases all rewards.
Related features
EXMO also offers fiat access, spot and margin trading, and EXM-based fee discounts. These can be useful for an existing account, but a token tier should be evaluated separately from the base Earn return.
Best for
Best for eligible customers who want a choice between daily-compounding access and a fixed term and understand EXMO’s DeFi lending exposure.
